I’m Jose, originally from Spain — and I know exactly what it feels like to learn German from zero.
I studied German Philology in Madrid and later continued at the University of Bonn, completing degrees in Teaching (Lehramt German & English) and Educational Sciences.
Living, studying & working in Germany taught me what works (and what doesn’t) when learning a new language — that’s where Ikarus was born.
Before founding Ikarus, I worked as a Spanish assistant teacher at a German high school and later became involved in university teaching and student organizations in Bonn.
Those years showed me that the best lessons aren’t just about grammar — they’re about understanding people, their goals, and how they learn best.
I’m not German, and that’s my biggest advantage.
I’ve been in the same place my students are now — confused, frustrated, trying to make sense of it all.
That’s why my lessons are not about passing an exam; they’re about helping you speak and live in German, with confidence and without fear of making mistakes.
